چکیده

The conventional methods used to analyze the shear lag effect in simply supported box girders assume that neutral axis of section coincides with centroid, which does not strictly satisfy axial equilibrium condition. To address this problem, study proposes an analysis method three independent functions for are employed define different strengths top slab, bottom and cantilever slab. fulfill condition girder automatically locate position, longitudinal displacement web is introduced. deformation also considered. governing differential equations corresponding boundary conditions variables such as deflection rotation derived through application principle virtual work. solved by utilizing obtain analytical expressions function, web, rotation, deflection, position. Furthermore, after performing finite element analysis, effectiveness proposed verified comparing results those obtained from analysis. influence quantified on force stress difference ratios under methods. Finally, extensive parametric carried out investigate parameter flanges. show when considered, stresses upper flange underestimated, especially at intersection top, lower overestimated. As a result, able calculate deflections more accurately.

Effect of Construction Method on Shear Lag in Prestressed Concrete Box Girders

Most of the previous researches conducted on shear lag of box girders were only concerned about simple types of structures, such as simply supported and cantilever beams. The structural systems concerned in these previous researches were considered as determined and unchangeable. In this paper, a finite element method considering shear lag and creep of concrete was presented to analyze the effe...

Generalized Shear-Lag Analysis Including Imperfect Interfaces

Two recent papers showed that shear-lag analysis can be an effective tool for stress analysis of composites when done properly and when applied to problems for which it is appropriate. This paper extends the prior analysis of concentric cylinders to a generalized shear-lag analysis in which the transverse variations of shear stress are described by arbitrary shape functions. The shear-lag analy...

Shear deformation analysis for woven fabrics

A new mechanical model is proposed in this paper to evaluate the shearing properties for woven fabrics during the initial slip region. Compared to the existing mechanical model for fabric shear, this model involves not only bending but also torsion of curved yarns. This model has the advantage of taking into consideration the yarn undulation in fabrics while keeping mathematical rigor. Moreover...
